On JULY 29, she will participate in an ACLU panel at the Chilmark, MA Community Center:  "An Evening Without..." to protest the US State Deprtment's ideological exclusion policy which has banned writers from entry to the US.

On AUGUST  2, she will celebrate Penguin's 75th anniversary with a reading at 7.30 pm at the Bunch of Grapes bookstore in Vineyard Haven, MA.

On OCTOBER 9, she will accept the Sarah Josepha Hale medal from the Richards Free Library at the Newport Opera House, Newport, NH.  The ceremony will include a reading.

On NOVEMBER 7, she will accept the Dayton Literary Peace Prize for Lifetime Acievement in Dayton Ohio.

On NOVEMBER 8, she will speak at the Toledo-Lucas Public Library McMaster Center.  Reception at 6pm.

On DECEMBER 14, at 11.30am she will speak at Johnson and Wales University, Providence RI
